WHAT IS ART THERAPY?

Art Therapy is a form of psychotherapy. Art Therapists encourage their clients to use both verbal and artistic expressions to explore and convey their internal worlds. Art Therapists use a variety of approaches: I am trained in using a psychodynamic approach, which means that I work with unconscious processes in therapy. I support my clients to express and work through conflicts, and difficult thoughts and feelings, that would otherwise be outside of awareness. My goal is to gently and safely enable this material to enter conscious awareness where it can be made accessible to thinking. In this way, therapeutic change can take place.
